The Big Day!Margaret & Peter's wedding was a wonderful day and I hope they enjoy the images in while Michael and myself have taken. It was such a joy taking these images, but I couldn't of done it all without the help of Michael Townsend as my assistant. Big thank you to him!

10/2/2016 0 Comments New Job!!So it has been awhile since I last posted, but I have some exciting news (well exciting for me).
On June 16th 2016, I emailed a lady called Nicole in regards to an Assistant Photography job that had been emailed around to the second and final year students. I wasn't sure how many people would have applied nor that I was get this job but I thought what the hell! It was the type of work I was looking to get myself into and it would give me the ability to learn more within the industry. Within a few hours of sending my application she got back to me with an interview dates. Two days later I had a the date set, Tuesday 28th June! The day of the interview I took my portfolio from the Final Year Graduation Show. I was horribly nervous but as soon as I stepped foot in the door and got talking to Nicole, all nerves went away and the interview was a breeze. Few minutes later it was over and I found myself with a task to do! I had been asked to take a photo of some Bubble Tea, I had no idea what this bubble tea was but surprisingly there are places which sell it, Lucky me! Around a week later I had taken the image and sent it to Nicole. Few days later I got an email back in regards to my image, as it was a good image it wasn't quite what they were wanting and asked me if it would be possible to retake it and send them a more fresh, summer image. I had also been asked if I would like to come into the office for a trail run alongside Nicole. Of course I jumped at the opportunity and said yes! While I was retaking the bubble tea image, Nicole and I started to arrange a trail day. As they were moving offices it was a little difficult to set a date that fit in nicely. However on Wednesday 10th August I had my trail day! It was how I was expecting, grab a camera take some images on a white background, upload to the websites required. Sure there is a lot of other bits inbetween that I have to remember but it was a good day! Before leaving Nicole and I had a talk about the day, how well she thought I did and asked... 'Would you like the job?'... I said yes of course! I wasn't due to start until September when they had finally moved into the new office and settled in. Which I was fine with as it gave me the summer to relax, get over the University stress I had been in the last few months with deadlines. On September 26th I finally started in my new job at The Gift Oasis in Huddersfield! 5/11/2016 0 Comments THE END....This will be my last post as a photography student before I hand in all that I have done over the last year... and what a crazy year it has been. But where do I start... Well to begin with I'm not a huge fan of blogging, so when I found out I had to blog... man did I avoid it for the first few months, but I do now understand how it is used to promote yourself and the work you do.
South Africa! This was an amazing time in my life – shooting wildlife. Upon my return I thought this is what I wanted to do with my FMP. Little did I know how hard it would be to get involved in the wildlife conservations around Yorkshire. So I had to think about what else I love about photography; what else I could do to help me get into the career I want. When looking back on my second year work, I remembered how much I enjoyed photographing food, how much I loved styling it; making it look perfect. It has been a very interesting time learning all the tricks of the trade when it comes to food. I didn't realise how hard some of it could be. I'm also not one to put myself out there so this caused a few difficulties within my degree. However for the last few months I have been in contact with several studios in the hope that after completing my degree I can get real working world experience. I have started looking into perhaps doing a food styling course or even a culinary course so that I can understand food better. However, these courses are a lot of money so perhaps I should take some time out from education, work for a little to earn money and then get back into that at a later date. My friend Chloe Woodhouse went down to London to visit Metro Print, which is the company almost everyone on the course used to professionally print their work. Rather than use Metro Print's services via their website, she opted to visit their headquarters in person as her images were a little more complicated. From what she said about them, I was comfortable enough to also use their services through their website. I recently applied for a job in Bury, Manchester at a company called Sambro in their studio as an assistant. I was told that I was a very strong contender and I would be contacted further for more info and perhaps even an interview. This job included assisting the photographer with daily duties, including Photoshop to create clipping paths/cutting out photos, making up samples of products to check function/ready to be photographed with model photo shots, and also to organise and collect samples. My professional practice... Well I believe I am better at promoting myself through doing jobs for people. I have had a few messages from family friends about coming to do wedding photography and other events as a result of seeing my website. I did a few of these on my placement year, however it was my first wedding shoot and I surprisingly enjoyed doing it. Over the course of the year I made sure that I didn't accept too much work as I wanted to devote my time to my degree. From my university planning interim shows, I have gained a lot of experience in hanging and curating small exhibitions. These skills will hopefully come in use later in my career. The other day my fellow students and I got the opportunity to submit our work to Source Magazine. Thankfully we were still able to as the deadline had already passed. A minimum of eight images, artist statements and the submission fee were needed. I feel that it was well organised on getting it completed in a short space of time. I am looking at continuing my blogging but as I won't have anything to do after this post you may not hear from me until something comes up! Until then..... HERE'S TO PASSING MY DEGREE!
So yesterday we got an email from our tutor telling us about Source Magazine. Naturally my fellow student Michael Townsend jumped at the chance and contacted Source to see we were too late or not. Thankfully, we were not too late and Michael quickly got the details needed from all that interested. A min of 8 images, artist statements and the submission fee were needed.
And now... IT IS LIVE! It's a very happy day as my fellow students and I are now featured on Source. CONGRATULATIONS!

5/9/2016 0 Comments Portfolio Prints Done! After realising that I wouldn't have enough money to spend on high quality gloss images for my portfolio I had to make do with printing them at uni. Today I picked them up and I must say some of them look amazing, I did run into a little trouble as they had only printed 8 of the 12 images that I asked for. But they were very happy to print off the other 4 there and for me above everyone else.
5/1/2016 0 Comments T-shirt Fundrasing! So as my part to help do some fundraising I decided the ask a local artist to design us a t-shirt logo and then I would sell them off at £12 a piece. This has now been running for around 2 weeks and yet not mant peope have brought one. I'm not quite sure why or what happened to people in Uni saying they would however they didn't and I wont be doing it again. The t-shirt actually came out pretty nicely and its a shame not mant people will have one to show off for their part at Huddersfield Uni.
4/30/2016 0 Comments Exhibition Print Arrived! My print from Metro Print arrived today!! Got a little nervous to open it up however I had to make the plunge as I needed to make sure everything was alright with it and give myself enough time to get another one if not.
THE PRINT IS AMAZING! My image looks beautiful, I couldn't be more happy with my print however I now want to put two of my images up instead of one. There is no time for that however so I shall be places my portfolio underneath for people to see my other work. 4/25/2016 0 Comments Metro PrintWe recieved some sample prints from Metro Print in London. They gave the students a small bag of samples with the simple C-type papers, while the tutors recieved a box of A4 sample prints for all types of papers which they provide.
I took one of the smaller samples packs and looked over which C-Type paper would be best for me exhibiton print. I spoke to Jack, the head guy of metro print, and Liam bout which paper would be best. After spending a few weeks thinking it over I decided on C-type Gloss, I have onlt ordered one Print for my exhibition as I believe this will have more of an impact than printing more. I am thinking of printing a small A4 sample book for the rest of my images but I am unsure at this moment in time. 4/24/2016 0 Comments SamplesAt the start of my FMP I wanted my images to be for a magazine cover however not all of them would fit very well so instead they are to be used in whatever way possible. I decided to create a couple of samples of how they could be used, please bare in mind that they may not be the best image to have used or be the best of quality.
4/22/2016 0 Comments Job response! For that last few months I have been applying for studio jobs, internships and so on around the country. But so far one only got back to be staying I was a strong candidate. The job is in Manchester, Bury at a place called Sambro, I was very excited to hear back from them however I haven't heard anything since. I am hoping that I will hear something soon as I would love this opportunity.
