12/23/2015 0 Comments Interim Show 1On the 15th December we had an interim show. This gave us inside into what it would be like to have to print, hang and organise a show for our Final year exhibition in June 2016. I showed one of my hot chocolate images that I had done the week before. Before deciding which image I was going to use, I booked out more studio tim I ended up thinking about my final show and I came up with 12 images, one for every month. I would do them all portrait and in the style of or rather theme of a magazine cover. The Interim show was a good eye opener to what and how I will be printing my images for the final show. The print I did for this show is an A1 print which ended up being too big, so I have decided that next time I will think about printing 4 A4 prints all portrait if I am to do 12 images i will also have a folder, book or perhaps calendar with all my 12 images inside so people can look through,

12/15/2015 0 Comments David LevinthalFrom my feedback with Liam I went away and looking into David Levinthal's work in regards to how he creates a mood with the backgrounds. The background of an image can be what sets the rest of the image and help the main subject stand out from the rest. Levinthal's techniques are to blur the distinctions between toys and what they represent. They also extended between fantasy and reality. I am hoping to use this information to help with my own images.
12/14/2015 0 Comments Feedback...While talking with Liam just before the Christmas break, he advised me to look at David Levinthal for a reference to mood setting, background ideas and camera techniques for my own food images. Liam also asked that I look into using the Cambo, large format camera which has a shift lens.
- After thinking about what Liam and I spoke about I booked more studio time every Wednesday to practice and gain more experience with different styles. I will also be photographing different food and perhaps products to widen my portfolio. 12/12/2015 0 Comments ShootsThese are a few shots I took before Christmas holidays, with location lighting in my own home. These images don't work and will not be used. I tried to use a theme for my images, such as a calendar or a magazine cover, however these images were not quite what I was looking for. This was good practice for me however into what I will do next and it opened my eyes to what kinda of atmosphere I want in my images.
12/5/2015 0 Comments Feedback...Major Project Some feedback from Liam on my major project was to engage more with the images. To deconstruct a selection of images, along the technical lines. To plan my shoots in more detail, with stronger consideration of props, lighting etc. Think about the elements of the pictures so that I can concentrate on the subtle details within each image. Also to respond to live briefs, write to magazines to access a more professional environment. - Unfortunately I didn't get to speak to Liam about my feedback, however I had already started to contact magazines and other companies in regards to getting a hold of some past briefs to more from but as I imagined either no one got back to me or they just said no they can not help me. So I decided to get a hold of old/new articles to try and deconstruct and make my own briefs. This proved to be harder than it looked. Research and Development Feedback from Richard on my research and development. I have very good secondary research, but need to now look in articles and finding out about agencies. What is lacking is my own primary research, my images, to use the studio weekly from now on, if I am to be competitive in this area of subject. Need to increase my skills and adaptability, this can start with ideas, however even more importantly is live projects. I need to seek these out otherwise I will miss opportunities.
- After speaking with Richard we came up with a 'goal' to have deconstructed 1-2 articles and images to create my own brief from food magazines. I am to also have 5 different shots in and out of the studio to start my portfolio and conduct magazines again with the help of David. |
