11/21/2015 0 Comments Paris TripOn November 11th my fellow students and I set off for a wonderful adventure in Paris! And boy was it a long journey...
We stayed in an amazing hostel called, St Christopher's Inn Gare du Nord. This place had the best atmosphere you could ever ask for, will definitely be staying here again for my next Paris trip. So from day to day, - Day of arrival, went to see the Effel Tower with the group. My friends and I decided to make our way back to the hostel but also to look for some food. However we got a little lost when looking for the subway and found no food a long the way. We spent a good 2hrs walking around. Finally we found the subway but had given up looking for food, little did we know just outside the hostel there was a McDonalds. We were saved!! It was the best McD's I had ever had, purely to how hungry I was. - Thursday, with a slow start to the day we made our way to the Jeu De Paume to see Philippe Halsman “Astonish Me!” (http://www.jeudepaume.org/index.php?page=article&idArt=2279). This was an amazing experience to see, however a film which was being shown confused most of us. - Friday, Paris Photo day! (http://www.parisphoto.com/) This was an overwhelming experience due to the shear amount of people, photographers, journalists walking around. Unfortunately we only had a days entry which I found a little disappointing as I would of liked to come back the next day to see the parts I didn't get to spend time looking at. As a group that night we decided to go out for a meal, an hour after my friends and I got back to the hostel the tragic event which none of us will forget happened. There was panic through the entire building, however we was reassure by the hostel and Liam that we would be safe and there would be someone coming around to check on us every few hours. The next day our trip was cut short as we made our way back home on the Saturday afternoon. Liam and a few other that morning went out for breakfast and to buy a few things for the trip back home. Some of use wanted to stay behind to pay our respects however knew this was not an option due to it being a Uni trip. 11/14/2015 0 Comments Old/Test ShotsHere are a few food shoots I have done in the past and test shots of a Halloween set I did a few weeks ago. After not touching a studio for an entire year I must say I am a little rusty so I personally think these images could have been miles better but I would like to know what you think?
11/10/2015 0 Comments BBC Good Food MagazineAs I have been using the BBC Good Food magazine within my dissertation, I decided that I would use the images as research for my FMP. I have images from 1990 right up until 2015, the imagery style changes hugely and is interesting to how the lifestyle changes with it. I am interested in creating my own magazine food cover images.
11/2/2015 0 Comments Research...So after deciding on my theme for my final project I had to start researching some other photographers in relation. For starters I looked at a woman called Katie Newburn, a food and commercial photographer from Napa Valley who started in the restaurant scene and worked her way up. I believe that her photographs reflect stories of her subject and desire to celebrate each. Another photographer that I looked at was David Griffen. His work shows that he is keen and loves the work he does with chefs and producers. His experience in producing exquisite images of restaurant cuisine, produce and products is extensive to those around him.
